Starting
"This looks great!" you say "But how do I get started?".
The steps are simple.
Getting Started with the Integrated Cargo System (Customs ICS).
- Order EdiSoft on the "Our Offer" page. We will send you a link so you can download the software.
- Set up an e-mail address for EdiSoft to use. See the manual for more detail on this.
- Obtain your Device Type 3 Digital Certificate. This is normally obtained from VeriSign and there is a prerequisite that you have a ABN-DSC (AO) Certificate before you can obtain a Device Type 3 Certificate.
- When the Device Type 3 Certificate is delivered from VeriSign then you need to be registered for the ICS. Contact the Customs Help Desk 1800 022 267 for assistance here.
- Install EdiSoft and set up the communications using Internet Mail.
- Set up the ICS interface in EdiSoft. This links EdiSoft to your Digital Certificates and configures your User Site ID.
- Now you can start practicing with EdiSoft if you wish. This should not take long because you already know how the manual system works and the electronic process works in a similar fashion. If you need help then you can contact our Help Desk and we will walk you through it or direct you to the appropriate Help Desk.
- When you are ready to do some real work, change EdiSoft to Production mode (this is in the EdiSoft manual) and start getting real EDNs and CRNs.
Getting Started with EXDOC (AQIS).
- Order EdiSoft on the "Our Offer" page. We will send you a link so you can download the software.
- If you intend to print your own Health Certificates or Phytosanitary Certificates then you should check with AQIS to ensure you have the correct type of printer.
- Set up an e-mail address for EdiSoft to use.
- Obtain an "EXDOC Application Form" so that you can get an EDI User Number and be registered. To get this form, contact your local AQIS Office or ring the AQIS Help Desk in Canberra (02) 6272 4800. When they send the form they also send an additional Information Pack.
- Install EdiSoft and set up the communications using Internet Mail.
- Once you have been registered in EXDOC you can start testing. This process is essential so that you can understand the way EXDOC works and how EdiSoft interfaces with it. AQIS will not move you to Production until they are satisfied you know what you are doing.
- When AQIS advise you can go into Production, change EdiSoft to Production mode (this is in the EdiSoft manual) and start getting real RFPs.
