In order for users on your network to also be able to access EdiSoft the folders and files need to be shared. Below is a set of directions you can use in order to create a share. Windows XP and Vista vary a little bit so we have included both.

 

Note: Setting up shares and networking should be done by someone who is familiar with windows networking, as you could expose your computer to security risks if done incorrectly.

 

Creating a Share - Windows XP

 

1.Ensure that Simple File Sharing is Turned Off. (This can be done by opening up File, and changing the option in the Tools-Folder Options-View Tab).

 

2.Using File Explorer, select and right click on the Folder you wish to create the share on and Choose Properties

 

3.Go to the Sharing Tab

 

4.Click Share This Folder

 

5.Then Click New Share

 

6.For Share Name call it what you like (ie, Woodwind if it's the woodwind folder), etc...

 

7.Make sure the required users have Full Control

 

8.Click OK

 

Creating a Share - Windows Vista

2.Using File Explorer, select and right click on the Folder you wish to create the share on and Choose Properties

 

3.Go to the Sharing Tab

 

4.Click on Advanced Sharing

5.Tick the box "Share this Folder"

 

6.Type in a name for the Share

 

7.Click Permissions

 

8.Ensure that the required users has Full Control, this can be done by ticking the Full Control Box.

10.Click OK
